First off - Website of the Fortnight is no more. It turns out the internet isn't as big as I had thought; in order to delay the end of this blog somewhat, it is has been switched to a bi-fortnightly schedule and rebranded to Website of the Month. Today's website of the month is Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia Commons is a media repository containing public domain and freely licenced image, audio, and video files. Like Wikipedia, it uses MediaWiki software, and is free to edit for everyone. Since much of its content has few to no restrictions on usage, it can be a good place to check when looking for freely usable images.
